Closed zoos

I recently purchased a small zoo frag with 2-3 polyps of 3 different colors. The first night I added them they opened just fine. For the past two days each polyp has only been partially opened. Is this normal? Are they just getting used to the new environment? I have a 29 gal with a single 65w dual PC and the zoos are about 7 inches form the surface. I keep the temp at 78 deg. My parameters are normal (nitrates are at 20pmm) and I have good water circulation. Any ideas on what to do to increase their chance of survival?

Probably nothing to worry about. Sometimes polyps can be closed for a couple weeks with no issues. I wouldn't worry unless you start seeing obvious signs of tissue decay.

YOu probably shocked em.. usually people start their zoos all the way in the bottom.. then slowly work them up as time progresses..

NOt much folks have (0) or perfect parameters, but nitrates is slightly up. Do a 10% and see what happens.. just my .02 cents

If it were your tank parameters, they wouldn't have opened at all on the first day. If they are partially open, that's a good thing. There is something that I have done for many many years and it has proven to be successful even in less than perfect conditions since they will adapt very quickly. I'm speaking of running your actinics only on the first day for a full 10 hours only. Placing them lon the substrata away from and not touching anything. Providing current that gently wiggles the skirts, and by the second day, they will be completely opened. I can't remember the last time that I purchased a colony and it didn't open after doing this. I don't think a water change is needed, but it never hurts. It can sometimes perk up a retracted colony. All the best.
