I recieved an email awhile back about a 20% off sale... Now i recieve and email stating Tony will be closing by the end of the month  :eek1: Huh..... Wuss up with that?.

Things just not working out in the new location? Or is it possible he no longer is interested in being a vendor? Will be open by appt at old location and active in group buy's? I'm lost...

Selling tanks & equipment Can't be good.

Who knows more?

When your pet store and you specialize in one product you will not last very long. Especially with the invention of the Internet.

if memory serves me right Eddies does not just sell coral. From people I've talked to who have owned pet stores livestock alone is not what keeps them open.

eddies makes a ton of there money from pond installations.

yeah but im sure they make a killing off live stock sales alone too linda nad I were looking at mushroom rocks and there going for upwards of $50 plus fish are going up also and eddies has some very useful things dont get me wrong but there dry goods section isnt the biggest around there isnt much there that you couldnt get at alot of the chain centers its more about reputation then anything. just my .02

YES they do... Eddies is pretty diverse.. FW, Marine fish & Corals, drygoods, equipment & yes pond installs which is very popular in this area. As a traveling service tech i see them at almost every upscale house i goto.

as stated eddies is also known as The Water Garden Co.very well known and successful buisness in area for ponds. most outdoor spring expos in area spotlight thier set ups. beautiful very large (karate kid style!) set ups. cost well over 10 grand. some even higher!

Tony made a bold move a "Go big or go home" move and it didn't pan out for him. The electric bill is what broke the camels back he ended up paying twice for elec. on top of the new rent. He owned the other location. It's sad he was only 10min from my house now I have to go to Schen. or latham.

hell be setting shop back up in the old location but it will be very limited hrs is all or you can always call and set up a time to stop in

wow bummer, that place looked like it had potential. Was only 20 min from my folks house too though bit of a drive now.....

Is that confirmed that hes going back to his own place or just rumor?

I talked to Tony last night. He is reopening the old location. The hours will be limited as Aaron said. He will be doing WYSIWYG internet sales. Posting pics of all corals on his site, for you to browse before buying. Locals will be able to go and pick up there stuff on a prearrainged time schedule. He will be doing shipping also, was considering even shipping things like phycopure to the locals if they want.(Had to ask about the phycopure, he got me hooked on that stuff and is the only one around who sells it.) Personally I'd rather take the 30 min ride and stare at his tanks for a while and BS with him :D He is going to be doing a drygoods thing still, more in the forms of group buys. That way we can all still get savings benefits from buying bulk. He was thinking along the lines of a monthly thing. Buying enough drygoods for a month at a time. Basically he said "I'm keeping my tanks up for myself, as a hobby...but people can stop by and check-out/buy stuff out of my tanks if they want." If you want to know more, stop up and have a talk with Tony yourself. ;) He will be out of the new location by the end of the month. I'm just glad to see he will still be in the hobby and doing what he always has. ;)
