cloudy eyes

My friend has a purple tang I believe it was mentioned on an earlier post from him. We treated and got rid of his ich and now his eyes have clouded up so he cant see anything and he has stopped eating. What do you guys think. Fungal?

Those who responded to my post indicated they thought it was a fungal issue and not ich. Treated with the Kordon. There was a white film over his left eye and on his sides and fins which all went away. I got pictures last night of him and he looked great. Then overnight the issues with his eyes being "glazed" came back.

Tried to feed him and he swam into the cloud of food eagerly but just swam around in it confused.

I'm assuming he can probably just see shadows right now depending how cloudy his eyes are. Thus he can tell when someone is walking by the tank, but not avke to see where food is.

Sounds like a secondary bacterial infection. F uran 2 should work well. Treat ASAP. Follow directions on box and regardless of improvement, go the full treatment length.

I agree, fungal infections in marine fish are very rare and usually secondary to another (bacterial) infection.

Girlfriend is out looking for the API treatment now. Pretty disappointing as yesterday he looked great and all signs of the fungal issue were gone.

my new wrasse just came down with his eyes cloudy and i thought it was fungal/bacterial and treated it for a week went away for a day and came back fresh water dipped him and found out it was flukes just a thought new to both flukes and infections good luck on your tang

By the time she came back to the house with the new treatment, the tangs eyes were cleared up. Began treatment anyways but seems as for now he has lost his appetite and has not eaten today.

What are you feeding? Maybe try some nori heavily soaked in garlic. The quick change in the eyes seems strange to me. Could be that he is fighting it and the garlic and nori should give him what he needs. Best of luck to you.

A mix of Mysis and some frozen cubed seaweeds etc. He was eating very well prior to yesterday. Im hoping his condition has improved this morning. Waiting to hear from my G/f on it.

Garlic doesn't hurt anything and may even help the fish's appetite a little. But it does nothing medicinal will not cure or prevent anything.

Second treatment went In this afternoon. He's eating but its a little difficult for him to see the food according to my gf. Also she said his condition has only minimally improved. I guess the cloudyness came back again shortly after it had vanished.

Just started day 3 of treatment after the 25% water change it called for. Tang is eating, but has difficulty seeing the food to eat it. Tomorrow will be the 4th day and final treatment. Then Monday evening will be another 25% water change to complete the treatment.

Results have been minimal with the bacterial treatment. Any suggestions on the route to take if this treatment does fail? All white spots on body and fins/mouth area are gone, but the cloudy eyes remain.

Gf said huge change in the cloudyness of his eyes after this last 25% water change and 3rd treatment. Did this last time too and was cloudy again within a few hours. Will be monitoring him closely to see if it comes back again by morning. If so I plan to do a large 80% water change Monday before begining a second round of the Furan 2

What are procedures for fresh water dip.
