Need to know a few things.

Newish tank?
additives ?
waterchanges recently
added sand/ or flow.
I have had 2 different times that my tank clouded up. Some spawing deal, and a cycle of some sort.
Do a 20 per water change and add carbon. Kevin

thanks Kevin I really do appreciate it I dont know if this will do any good just did a 20 water change 2 days ago, Pretty new tank 2 months old, didnt add any sand added the maxijet 1200, about 1 week ago, I use Kalkwasser added manually, also calcium, Kents Phytomax, CoralVite, Iodine, Phytoplex, and a coral stimulator, all Kents, thanks again

Steve (feel free to send a PM or something if easier)

Sounds like your adding alot of different additives. YOu may wanna back off your additives one at a time. YOU say you dose kalk manually. How much are you adding at one time. this will definitely cause cloudiness. I will assume you are only adding the water above the kalk. I would lay off the kalk for a few days and see what that does. How often are you adding it. And how much at one time. how this helps a bit. Kevin

I add 1/8 teaspoon for every gallon of top off, which is around 10 per week, I will back off of it for a bit I need a Kalk reactor just need the money, Which additive should I lay off first which sounds least important? Just new to this sorry for all the ?'s

the phyto stuff has alot of stuff in it that if left uneaten will cause serious water issues. How is your ph? Is it cloudy in the morning when you get up: or is it cloudy at night? Could have something to do with lighting and algea growth. Kevin... going to bed will check on ya tomorrow.

Sounds like the same type of prob. I'm having with my 60 gal. reef.
I was dosing daily with Purple-Up and less frequently with C-Balance.
As soon as I reduced the dosage to every other day, the cloudiness started to diminish. 100 lbs. Figi Premium Live rocock from Aquacon.com, an a DSB. I'm finally beginning to learn that "Less is More," when it comes to the use of additives.

Best of Luck

Are you slow dripping the kalk or adding it all at once? I was going to suggest running carbon, but the root problem is probably the sheer number of things you're adding to the tank or perhaps just the kalk. I've just started using kalk, so I'm certainly no expert. Randy in the chemestry forum may be able to help you out a bit more.

I would say 1 of three main thinks:

1) your calcium is too high. TEST your water.

2) Tank does not have enough biological filtration. This is a easy one to test for, Add some turbo bacteria about $20 expensive but excellent. It may clear it up for ever, or it may prove to you that you could use some more live rock.

2)Dissolved solids, try putting a filter sock in line with the overflow. Rinse them good first they can make your skimmer go nuts.

I could easily be something else, more flow is always a good start.20x vol. at least.

Good luck
Ed

Thanks Everyone for the responses and keep thm coming if you like, I know not the most interesting subject,

Ed currently I am running about 120 lbs of premium fiji live rock, and about a 3 inch deep sand bed its a 95 AGA Wave Tank I test my water and the calcium came back normal and within a good range according to the paper that came with testing kit, but then I started adding KALK everyday in top off water so thinking that could be it.......................Thanks and if there is anything else you can think of please tell me, you seem to have a lot of experience

Island Crow, I am putting the KALK in with my top off water, I do not own a KALK reactor I need to get one sounds like maybe though thanks, anything else you can think of would be good though

Safe, I agree wuith you I am starting to dial down the doses and am going to see the way that goes, thanks for your response tell me if anything else starts working on your tank please

Thanks EVERYONE I really appreciate it, you guys are great feel free to send me a PM to talk more back and for or email Whatever works easier for you all, again thanks very much
