Cloudy water

The tank is 5 months old and About two weeks after adding corals the tank started getting cloudy. Ive been keeping up with wc's and cleaning filter pads. there is no algae growth that is noticeable or seems uncommon. I use tap water from my well but it wasn't causing problems in my other tank so i don't believe its the cause. I use kent marine salt. I dont add supplements

Hook up a canister filter filled with just floss or a large hob filter filled with just floss, do a water change or two, it should clear up readily

i did a 50% water change two days ago and dosnt seem to help and i am doing another now .... Should i keep doin wc's like this till its clear? Or maybe do them daily till clear?

So last night i did like you said and did a wc and added only filter floss, also i added sand and it seems to be helping alot. Do you think k should continue doing every other day wc's for a while longer? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1382097726.837459.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1382097726.837459.jpg

Stop using Tap Water, you should be using RO/DI. It is causing problems, problems you don't see, but will see in time.

In the first pick it looks like dirty glass but if you say it's cloudy water then it must be!
Is your skimmer running? A good skimmer will clear out the cloudiest tank. It's just particulate matter. Sock will help.

Definitely not dirty glass lol😜 i borrowed a skimmer for a week with no help and I've even shut off all power heads. packed one hob with purigen and floss, and another hob with phosguard and floss, thinking its a bloom. The only way i can get clear water is if i do a big wc and the water will stay clear for about four or five days.😠

Is it possible the rock could be deteriorating and cause the cloudy water?

Ps all recent wc's have been with lfs water to see if it helped as well.

Some friends of cristal clear water are:
-Oversized skimmer
-Propper water flow
-Sand particle size Vs. water flow
-GAC
-Balanced bacterial culture (achiveable with MB7, Biodigest, Zeobak, etc)
-RO/DI water

Not at all just cloudy..... Im waiting to buy a skimmer. Hoping that works.

Ps
dont know if it means anything but it seems as if it only gets cloudy to a point and then no cloudier.

Its been going on for a long time, probably a month or two. How long do they last and how do i get rid of a algae bloom. I've been running phosguard in my hob and it doesn't help.

Bacteria blooms usually dont last more then 5 days , but what you describe sounds like one the water will get cloudy until it has a milk like apperance .. Could have prolonged it with water changes etc. Bacterial blooms are very common when starting carbon dosing. But can occur other ways .. it's a cycle that will pass just not much can be done if it's actually a bacterial bloom just gotta let the bacteria choke itself out..

Yes I also think your tap could be getting in the way when topping off its possible your adding chlorinated water killing bacteria prolonging the cycle
