Cloudy water

So your sayin just let it run its course before doin anymore water changes ?

The water is really cloudy buddy...
If I am in ur place I start using ro water and do a huge amount of water change...
And stop every thing exept for the skimmer...
And wait a while till ur tank is almost stable....
And only then start adding some machines plus what kind of salt are using and do keep it rest before adding it to the tank....

In my opinion water change can wait a 1.5 weeks and if he is using tap it's probably not doing much good. His excess nutrients are not a problem if it's bacterial need to cycle it

In my opinion is that I never seen a cloudy water this much before so their is something wrong...
Right
So if the start was worng and he is a 2 month old tank ill do a massive water change and start from the start...

In my experience frequent wc's havent been working for more then a day so im up for a different approach. I've been using ro water from the lfs and i let the salt i mix( kent ) sit over night to settle. I change 5 gallons and its only a 12 gallon.

If you wanted to be more aggressive you could Try some of the instant cycling products which have more of the bacteria you need ie biospira, smart start complete, safe start... I have never tried them in this situation but the idea always has crossed my mind..

Thats how i started the tank.... You dont think it will affect the corals and fish? Im really up for anything as i hate looking at the cloudy tank

The product would be safe to use with coral and fish but I would not use unless the clarity wasn't changing after a week the water will get foggy until it looks like milk then it should clear ...

The only thing that worked for me when this happened to me a while ago was a UV filter. I bought a cheap one (Green Killing Machine) from Petco and it was clear by morning. I even used an under powered one for my size tank. Ran it for about a week or 2. Never had a problem again. All params kept stable. Never had a spike or any adverse effects, despite the controversy over using them. Prior to that, I had tried EVERYTHING.

I swear I tried every single thing you listed and that stupid little Green Killing Machine did the trick. Within hours. Keep us posted if you try one. I am curious if you have the same result.

Put it in your sump. It is submersible.

Update:

I had to go away for work and got back last night, my tank cleared up very little but a noticeable amount.Today i did a 5 gallon water change and now its clear with a slight haze. i can see alot of stuff floating still so i packed both filters with floss. i think i still need the help of a uv to polish things up

I once had a bacteria bloom in my 20g, I just ran a piece of that blue filter stuff in my sump for a little over a day, cleared it up completely. Could have been a coincidence but whatever, try it. Stuff's really cheap.

Ps tank is gradually getting cloudy again but the good news is the uv light was shipped today i really have alot pf hope in it. Either way if it works or not my next step is a skimmer. I think ive decided on the remora nano because my tank is so short, what do you think?

I think you did a water change which restarted the bacteria cycle. I would wait a week after its clear to do a water change
