cloudy water?

does anyone know how to clear cloudy water...its not green its white like someone poured milk into it???

i get my water from Fish and Coral this is the sencond time its happened i didnt think it was the water at first but now i think it is

You running any carbon? Although, I don't think your water should be that cloudy even without it...

Do you have any Clams? My water get cloudy when my clams decide to spawn. But it clears up after a few hours.

sounds like coral spawning....
i have never seen water get cloudy when adding water into the tank... UNLESS you are dumping the water directly on your sand and moving everything around.

i dont think so...it stays cloudy and gets worse after water changes

i know when you stir up the sand it gets cloudy but it clears in a couple hours

Any pics? It sounds like it might be a bacterial bloom. Is it stringy? Are the corals sliming at all? Are you running a skimmer?

tptp279- i think it is the water but it looks clear

gcarroll- sorry no picts it in my dads office, not stringy, it looks like if you poured a little milk into a glass of water, no corals and no protien skimmer

the tank is a 30 gal

i would definitely use a protein skimmer. also add water to dilute the milky substance and then do a water change.

i had a similar situation and didnt know what caused it. people say bacteria/algea bloom or coral spawn. to this day, i still dont know what cause it. but its gone

lmao.... sigh~ get a skimmer
only thing i can think of... pour some in a cup... about half full and drink it.... down the whole thing... if it tastes salty... you shud be just fine
