Cloudy water

Ok I finally got water in my tank, and was too impatient with adding now my water is extremely cloudy since the sand that was in it was new. The residue from the sand seems to be staying suspended how do i clear it up?

In my smaller tanks, it usually takes about a day or two. In my 30, I managed to keep it from going through the cloudiness by taking 5 gallon bucket fulls outside and running a hose through it. Fill the bucket up, slosh it around and empty it. Did that SEVERAL times until all the smaller particles we're rinsed out. I was left with nice, clean sand. I used pool filter sand, though...

HTH.

Try a 100 micron filter sock. If that doesn't get it, a diatamaceous filter should, but nobody uses those anymore.

Diatomaceous filters rule! I have an old Whisper Diatomagic that I love. I bought a whole box of diatomaceous filter powder that you would use in a pool. I don't think I'll ever run out :P. I think the box was $13 or something like that.

Diatomaceous filters have to be the quickest way to get "clear" results. I'd like to actually get another one. I think this whisper will only last another year or so. Any suggestions?
