Clove Corals Taking Over Tank Please Help

6 months ago got a frag of some clove polyps. They have rapidly spread all over my live rock and now are growing dangerously close to some superman monti I have in my tank. My question is will the clove corals overtake the monti or will they stop before they over take it. Thanks

I believe they will continue to take over. I recommend maybe taking a sharp razor blade and cutting it, and glue it to a plug and try to sale it or just give it away.

That sounds like a good plan. My only concern would be killing the whole colony, do you think that is a possibility? Never fragged any coral before. Thanks!

Just go your LFS and get some frag plugs or use some live rock and some reef glue. Once you cut it just glue it to a piece of live rock or the plug. That's it that simple.

Yeah ain't this the bugga? I've got the same issue you do. While they do look pretty at first, they sure are invasive. Now my rocks mostly are mostly covered in blue, thanks to the clove polyps.....

Although I imagine it may be hit-or-miss, my clove polyps and Xenia were all eaten by my trio of pyramid butterflyfish. They didn't bother anything else.

Clean tanks stop clove polyps. I figured that out, if you can drop the nitrates to 0, Phosphates to 0 and basically suck all the nutrients from your tank like you are trying to grow SPS they will start to disappear. Now that my tank is back with 5 nitrates and Phosphates again..... I have them springing up everywhere.
