Clowdy saltwater

Musicbabe got some saltmix from Phoenix(Aquacraft reef), so I mixed it up a few days ago. It's still cloudy. What's up with that? I have a maxijet 1200 in a 35 gallon container. I'm afraid to use it. I'm starting to have a panic attack- 10 days since the last water change. MUST CHANGE WATER SOON....

I've had that happen before when I initially mixed the salt way too strong and had to dump in a bunch of RO/DI to get the salinity down. It never did clear up so I threw it out and mixed another batch.

Well, salinity is 33, specific gravity is 1.025. PH is 8.2. I used some with saltwater I got from Rob's. The water went in the tank cloudy, but cleared up right away. Everything in there looks okay. So, in the future, if it remains cloudy, just toss it out?

Hmmm. I don't know. For me, cloudy=weird... :wildone:
But then again, if every thing tests ok and it cleared right up, it's probably ok.

If the water was cloudy, something precipitated out of the salt during the mixing process. Did you add water to salt or salt to water? It sounds like a dumb question but makes a big difference.
