clown aggresion

I read somewhere that if i have a maited pair of clowns hey will become more aggressive to other fish. I only hve a 45 gal tank and dont want them claimimg the whole thing so should i get only one clown? Later down the line i think i want a dwarf angel and valentini puffer, unless i get corals in that case i have no clue what else i would get after the clowns

I've heard the same. I decided to add clowns last to hopefully minimize the aggression. (haven't purchased them yet) As far as how many, it will be hard to look at just one clown and I assume they are happier in pairs IMO. A docile fish might have some problems versus a semi-aggressive fish too.

ive been asking similar questiond about clown compatability as i wanted to do two. all the feedback im seeing is clowns will be pretty agressive when in pairs, i have a similar size tank(55g) and two clowns might dominate one whole side or more of the tank.

all i was looking to do was damsels/clowns/chromis and ive had to rethink this not sure what im going to do at this point

Clowns can also be agressive without a mate. I have a pair in my 40 breeder. Along with a fairy wrasse, mandarin, starry blenny, and royal gramma. No aggression unless my hand goes into the tank.

Main thing is to allow enough space for themselves in the tank.

IMO&IME, a pair of clowns should go in last, especially in small tanks. If the clowns are already established: put them in your QT for a week or so when you transfer the new fish to the DT. Most clowns are much more territorial than aggressive.

What are your plans for stocking the tank? We can give you some idea of list in order of how to stock it. Its not only clowns that can be territorial

At first i was going to do a fowlr but now i want softies so anything reef safe, i want a dwarf angel and i no i have to watch them with corals but thats ok if i cant have a angel then so be it...i only planned for 4 to 5 fish including the 2 clowns and some corals
