Dennis- your runt looks like an awesome little character! Great shots.

Princer, I really like the colors, composition and shallow DOF of your image.

Marc- your RBTA's look happy as can be. I like the way you cropped the your image with the water level. Care to share what are you feeding your anemones? and how much sunlight is the tank receiving?

Thanks for sharing all.

Zenya,
Great Tank must be really successfule with those BTAs. Any tips on things to do for helping mine recover their colours faster or any explanation on the non explained bleaching?

Hi maroun.c,

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, somehow missed your questions. :o

In all honesty, from reading your opening posts, it leads me to believe that perhaps something in your tank's water chemistry had affected your anemones after introduction.
If all other parameters being equal that is, like temperature, salinity, lighting, then something else is at play here. Did it look healthy in the store you purchased it from?

Also, force feeding is not a good idea. Tentacles should be sticky and usually grab food on their own.
All the clones that were produced in my tank gone through the period where they look bleached (almost like yours with exception of the really puffy mouth) but they always recover in a few days, week at the most. I stopped feeding individually about a year ago, just can;t possibly feed all of them in there.

PM me if you'd like to go through more detailed questions and answers.

The RBTA is in my 20g angled tank. Here's another shot to give you the full picture, taken January 2009.

The tank has a 150w DE 10,000K bulb over it, which is lit from 2pm to 8pm daily.

I feed the tank's two clowns a few shakes of Sera pellet food daily, and that is it. I never feed the anemone specifically, and doubt the clowns are doing it either.

Because this tank is plumbed into the 280g system, the water parameters are pretty stable. However, when I feed the 280g, the return pump is off, so again there isn't a food supply sneaking over like some might surmise.

It gets some daylight via the glass inserts in my front door, but no direct sunlight unless I swing the door open on purpose. That's pretty rare though, only for a few minutes to enjoy the different look and perhaps to take a picture or two.

The parent anemone split many times in this tank, and I sold 4 or 5 of them. This was the tiniest one, much to the dismay of the hosting clowns, but has grown steadily into a nice large (for this tank) specimen. I'm curious to see if it splits again, or gets bigger. We'll see in the next six months, I bet. ;)

thanks for the explanation... I remembered you saying the tank got some sunlight- I just wanted to know if it was regular.. My bta seems much happier now that is getting a good 30 mins of direct window light in the am. Thats cool to know it is looking that great and growing so well without being fed.

I have GBTA that my clowns ignore. However, you couldn't pry them out of my Toadstool leather coral! Even my Cleaner goby likes it in there...

Thanks Reeftanks6 :). I was sort of amazed to see the details in the leather coral polyps myself when I was first reviewing these shots. Pretty cool actually!
