is there anything special one should do in order to get clowns to mate /breed for example light cycle etc??

read Joyce Wilkerson book Clownfish, I am no breeder as of yet. I would try to search threads of people's success and set ups as well as theories

Try feeding them a lot of high quality foods twice a day. I make my own mix of food with shrimp, squid, scallop, fish, and other seafood. It seems to work well. A high quality pellet food would be good also. Make sure that the clowns are stress free. If they're fighting or worried about other fish, they won't spawn.

One thing to note, don't add too much squid to your mixture of blended foods. Squid is pretty high in fat and can cause fatty liver.
