have a percula clown in my 55g along with a yellow tang, bangai cardinal, firefish, and lawnmower blenny. today i added a maroon clown of same size as perc....the FIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE...perc has maroon clown fins pretty frayed up and maroon is just clinging to the surface in the very front of the tank. he is looking pretty pathetic. Does he even have a chance?...Will the perc eventually chill out or is this a fight to the death?

Percs and maroons are conspecifics. Not a good idea to add one after another. If you don't have another tank, your best best is to remove the percula to a bucket, rearrange the rockwork, and keep the maroon in there. Let the maroon get adjusted and then add the percula. This rearrangement of rockwork removes any territory the perc has claimed and with the perc being introduced second, she becomes the one who has to adjust instead of the maroon.

Re: clown compatability

My guess is they will fight to the death.

The maroon didn't make it... percula just wouldn't let up on it. I will be more careful of this in the future.
