;)I posted this same question a couple weeks ago. I got replies as it could be mal nutrition and to up the feeding dont think this is it. Black ich disease is what i will be treating now that i read ur post. Hope your succesful at getting it cured. I have two clowns they both got it at the same time. My tank had just got done with cycling when i added them. But ive been into reef tanks for a couple years now. Down graded from a 125g to a 30g nano. Gooood lucck hope they get better.

Just a follow up my Clowns are still doing just fine they eat well and still have the black spots. I guess sometimes you have to wait and see Not and easy thing to do when you think your fish might die. Thanks for all your help

Young clowns are very easily stung by frogspawn hammer's and bubble corals "could be more but those are my experience" and the stings show up as black spots,
that's my guess

Hypermelanism, stings from corals?

Black ich is a parasite, I do not believe it just resolves. .

They get these when they host something new I believe. My female has them right now and hers are from hosting a new anemone that is laid over a colony of zoa's. She sleeps on the edge of the nem which is where the zoa's are. In this pic you can see them on her chest and tail:

Nothing to worry about in my opinion. Their body is just getting used to the new toxins they are coming into contact with.

I never said black ich because I don't think it's black ich, I think they are just temporary burns that will go away with time, my juvi clowns get them all the time when I put a young clutch in a tank with frogspawn and torch corals

+1 hypermelanism which is just a reaction when starting to host.

Easy way to tell it isn't black ich is the parasites will move. So take a picture and compare them.
