Clown Fish "Mob-Hosting" Gigantea

I recently picked up my first Gigantea, and put it through treatment for 10 days, and then 3 days in a basket acclimating to my DT. This morning, I placed it my DT and immediately several of my CF harem "mob-hosted" the new Gig.

I'm hoping all the activity does not stress out the nem too much. Anybody with a harem ever had problems with nems stressing out over too many CF hosting?

BTW - Big thanks out to Minh and Amoo for sharing the treatment procedures. It worked perfectly to save this nem.

Cheers!

Unfortunately the size of that gig is WAY too small to even host a couple of clowns, let alone a harem. If you don't remove it asap, they will kill it in less than a week caused by the incessant rubbing against it.

I would isolate the gig in a separate tank, or place an inverted strainer on top of it to act as a barrier and let it grow until it can actually sustain that many clowns. But it will take months.

As a frame of reference, I had a similar sized gig perish from the incessant rubbing from 2 skunk clowns. Unfortunately I couldn't tend and remedy the situation because I was relocating to a different city at the time.

About 1 month is what it took for the gig to loose most of it's oral disc tentacles due to rubbing. In your case it would take much less given it is still recovering from treatment.

Whoa that is too cool. Thanks for sharing!

EDIT: Oh no I posted just before the comment above was left. That too bad that it will harm the nem. That must be really cool behavior to observe!

+1. They will basically "over-love" it to death.

I figured this was probably the case. After the initial excitement, the clowns have gone back to their usual hosts, with jut the #2 female hosting it now. I'll probably plumb a 10g tank off to the side and grow it out there.
