Clown Fish Size

What size do Percula and False Percula clownfish attain in captivity? Lately at two of my LFS's I've seen a rather large ocellaris, probably 3-4" and a black ocellaris that was easily 4"+. Now im assuming that at least the black clown was wild caught as that particular LFS gets most of his live stock direct from Hawaii, but in other reefers tanks, how large do your clowns get?

Around about four inches is the typical maximum size for females. Males will be smaller.

This is standard length though, from the head to just before the beginning of the tail fin. In total length, these species can reach over four and a half inches.

Exactly. And just because they are in captivity doesn't mean that their growth will be stunted. That is why it is so important to give marine fish the proper environment. Keeping things like juvenile tangs and sharks in small aquariums does not mean that they will grow to the tank's size. That is a myth. They will grow out of their juvenile stage at the same growth rate as those in the wild. As they reach adulthood, growth rates will vary, but they all will eventually obtain their maximum size.
