gotta love saltwater.....
has anyone here ever seen a mushroom coral (heliofungia actiniformis) so called plate corals , this one is the long tentacle one it looks very much like a anemone ,, host clowns ??? my 2 clowns are thinking its a anemone ,,and they are trying to host with this coral ,,,i thinking i will wake up in the morning and see ole Nemo's tail sticking out of its mouth ,,,,

i know they will host to mosy anything they can ,,,i just worried me to see them getting so close down inside the plate,,,that thing will make short work of a chunk of krill ,,,,,, just wondering if he puttin on his bib for a clown dinner ???? im going to salty this weekend to pick up a big anemone for them to chill in ,,,

Oh sorry, didn't understand what you were asking. No idea if he's lining up to be sushi. If you're really nervous, I've seen people make a "box" out of eggcrate to cover items on the sand from aggressive tankmates as a short term solution. It does take time for the clowns to take to an anemone.

I have a large anemone that I have had in the tank for 3 years, I am unsure of the type I am interested in selling it. The clowns have hosted in it for the years as well and have laid eggs many times.

Thanks MJ ,,,,, clowns will host to tons of stuff ,,,i just didnt know about this plate coral ??? and the clown dinner ,,,,,,, thanks for the input MJ ,,,,,,, if it keeps up ,,,i will do as you said and cover him up untill i get a anemone in there for them to start to host with ,,,,, keep up the good work MJ ,,,,

Murph,,,,,,

Mine hosted in my heliofingia when I had one. They have also hosted in leathers, candycanes, trachaphyllias and everything including a piece of orange cap.
