Clown ID help

Greetings, this is my first post. Looking for some help ID'ing a clown that i picked up. I was told it was a type of sebae, but just wanted to confirm so I can make sure I'm reading about the right type of fish... I bought him to pair with my GBTA, but so far 2 weeks later and he wants nothing to do with it... I'm so bummed, the only reason I picked up a clown... Maybe one day down the road as there is definitely no getting him out without tearing everything out. Thanks again.

Here is your picture.

To me it looks like a saddleback (( Amphiprion polymnus )) the black color morph.

As for it being hosted, a BTA isn't a natural host, but that shouldn't be too much of an issue. Just give it more time. Many years ago I had a pair, that were hosted by a BTA.

I agree that it is a black A. polymnus. Natural hosts for these fish are the S. haddoni and H. crispa.

Thanks for the responses. I just looked up those anemones and both require much more light than i can offer... A LFS has some really nice Black misbar Ocellaris, would that get along with my current clown? Would the BTA host the Ocellaris?

These guys will be much bigger and more aggressive than Ocellaris. I would not try to pair them.

I don't want them to pair, i just want to get a clown that could join with my BTA... Do you think they would fight badly?

Yes.

A. Polymnus can be very aggressive and I would not mix an occellaris with it. Also, IME, Saddle clowns tend to be hard on their anemones. I would go for a BTA. I too have had them host BTA. IME, Crispas and Haddonis are much more sensitive and I would not take one that was freshly imported and put it with these clowns. I would give the anemone ample time to acclimate to captivity in a tank by itself before you put it with your clowns. A healthy BTA anemone should be able to take the abuse they can deliver.
