Clown in the Sinkââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦.Please help

I was acclimating (sp?) my new clown fishââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦
The bag was a getting little full.. so I thought that drain some water in the sink..

Will I was draining the water the clown fish jumped out of the bag and into the sink..

I quickly dismantled the sink drain and grabbed the clown fish and dumped him into the tank.

He seems o.k. nowââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦

Will he/she be o.k. do I need to do any thing else to help him..

Please help.. BTW it was a silly mistake and will never happen again.. so only reply if you can helpââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦ I am feel bad as isââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦.

There really is not anything else you can do. If he eats and does not show signs of ich you should be OK. Is he acting normal swimming around....eating...... I alway quarentine new fish to make sure they are free of ich before putting them in my tank. If you have a fish only tank with no inverts you can do a hypo treatment right in your main tank if ich is present. Good luck to you and the fish. BILL

If you've got a QT tank, use it. If you don't have a QT tank just make sure to obersve him closely for any signs of bacterial infection or parasites.

Either way, I'd advise doing a meth. blue dip to clean off any bacteria that may've been in the sink's drain during the incident.

As for the what happened: Don't worry about it. It happens and we all make mistakes. Just learn from your mistakes! I know I learned from it.

Best of luck and I hope your fishy comes through with flying colors!!

These things happen.
I once had a pictus cat jump out of net.
He hit my leg going down and the barb of his pect fin stuck in my thigh.
He was flopping like crazy w/ that half inch barb in my thigh, OUCH
I had no choice but to yank him out of my thigh,OOUUCCHH
He swam w/ kinda a limp, but lived a long time
Everyone makes mistakes, sometimes that's how we learn
A QT is a good thing to have
Good luck

I wouldn't do anything.......... the fish doesn't need anymore stress.

BTW,

get a 5 gal buck and fill with some plastic bags and do your acclmating over it.

I warm the bag for 15 mins put it in the bucket add the water blah blah your good to go. If you have an accident the plastic bags will stop it from getting severely injured.

I don't see why you guys are talking about Ich. Ich isn't going to pop out of nowhere just because the fish is stressed, you have to introduce Ich to the tank.

He might be okay, its probably 50/50. I imagine if he was in some saltwater in the drain since you were draining the bag so it shouldn't be a total salinity shock.

Come on Guys... AGU.. very funny hun....
:D
well, is he O.K. swimming around... and Eating..
this is the first fish i the tank. that why no QT..

The drain was full of SW that i was trying to Drain...

So you guys think 50/50...

if he is o.k. after 2 weeks.. do you think he will make ..

if it makes it past 24 hrs I'd say it will probably be ok. I would wait to add another fish. remember patience is the best thing you can have in this hobby. However if you are using a QT you can get the second clown in it since it will be in there for 6 weeks.

Give him a few days. If its a new tank, I would go slow on adding new fish anyway. If he makes it a few days with no ill signs i would say hes fine and I think he will be fine.

As far as ick, I think that ick can simply be in the water. there is a 99%chance that the LFS where you got him has had ich at one time and could be in the water no matter how small the amount. The fact is that a stressed fish is more likly to get it. I think that the poor guy has been stressed. Clowns are tough.

My son took our clown out and let him ride on a toy fire truck. This was almost 2 years ago and the clown is fine.

high hopes,

Nathan
