Clown recently developed black spots

Hey everyone.

I am sure this has been discussed before, but the search feature was disabled the few times I tried it. One of my clowns has recently developed black spots on both sides of his body. They only appeared when he took up residence in one of my zoas.

Is he getting burned by this or is it another more serious problem? He is eating fine, and does not seem to have any problems other then the spots.

Here is a pic of both the clown and the zoa

Yes it is just a sting from the zoas or whatever coral it might go into.
I have had a couple pair do the same thing.

Isnt there such thing as black ich....wouldnt it look like this?

not sure, but the pic is of a clown that has been stung by an unnatural host...a leather or LPS of some sort..

Not a disease, that's for sure. My clowns have shown similar spots when bouncing back and forth between the frogspawn and hairy mushrooms a lot. On mine they always go away sooner or later.

I have two clowns that dive in green star polyps all day long, turned black (spotted) within a week or so. They do it so much the spots cover most of their bodies. They still do it. Rascals.

my clowns play in my GSP all day long...never show any signs of burning...hmmm...

Well it seems my other clown that I got a few weeks ago is also starting to develop a few spots as well. But this clown does not get into the zoa like my other does.

So could this be a disease that have acquired ?

No this is the only thing I have ever see the clown play in. He will lay so still in it he looks dead, then just swim away.....then repeat. Very fun to watch.

So maybe my other clown is getting in the same thing when I am not around?
