Clown tang help

I say that because I don't know where the ten gallon nano came from I might have not updated my profile since I joined. Also bc this tangs like most all require a large amount of swimming room be a happy lil fish. I just wanted some info about the fish and see if any one else has one or had one in the past that could help.bc the clown tang is a difficult tang to keep.

healthy, mature tank, clean water, skimmer, lots of macro/mirco algae, nori, pods...some pe mysis, enriched brine...good to go...they can be very aggressive though so that needs to be factored in...

IMO & IME; one of the keys to success with these fish is their origin. CTs from The Maldives, Fiji, etc. seem to do better than those those from Indonesia or just "Indo-Pacific".

Yep, it would be...
My lineatus isn't aggressive at all, but I guess my twice as big sohal is the reason ;)
The sohal is 12" and the lineatus is only 6". Sohal has a handful with the imperator and niger, so the lineatus isn't his "main target" so to say.

Are they difficult to keep like I have read any suggestions on how to keep them

i have a clown tang,i have read that they are hard to keep.
i have never had any kind of issues with mine.they are found in parts of the ocean that are high in oxygen.he/she will do great in a tank that size.the only thing i have found that they eat"at least mine anyway" is the alage that grows on the glass and the live rock.constantly grazes.always has a full belly

I purchased a clown tang from my lfs about 8 months ago at that time I was very inexperienced and took some bad advice. I was told a 55gal was plenty big enough. well a 55 isn't really suitable for any tang much less a huge one like a clown. anyway they need highly oxygenated water and at the time I only had about 20 times turnover as far as flow is concerned and the fish only lasted two days. I think that could be the only issue because all my params were good and the fish was healthy and eating well. good luck

Sadly, a LFS used to be a great source of info, they seldom are now. Here's what LA says: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=15+43+340&pcatid=340

I would advise strongly against getting this fish. I have had mine for 2years and if I could remove him and find a good home I would. The most aggressive fish you will ever own. IMO

Thanks every one for the help my lfs got one in today they will be holding it for me for a week to see the health and condition of it I am not sure where it's from location wise but will find out soon thank you everyone

I've had one for 9 years, now 6 inches in a 400 gallon. Most aggressive fish ever owned especially to two purple tangs each 4 inches.
