Clown with an established clown?

My tank had some ammonia spikes from overfeeding is what we think happened. Lost quite a few fish. One of those fish was my male clown; will I be able to put a new male/neutral clown (small) in with the female? The female looks lost. It was on the way other end of the tank when the lights were off actually looking inside rocks. I'm guessing looking for the male.

In short, yes, but it really depends on what type of clown you have to rate the difficulty in getting the established clown to accept a new mate. I'd make absolutely sure you have the chemistry issue resolved prior to adding any new fish, the fish currently in your tank will be pretty stressed and that will also affect how they'll greet newcomers.

I have found that you can, but to ensure the two are compatable, its best if the new clown is smaller than the one you already have.

Yes you can. They will pair easily if you get a much smaller one than your female and the same specie. It should only take a few days to pair.

Pairing "easy" depends on type of clown.
Best is to get real small, and intro in a spec container for like 2-4 days to be safe.
You should notice if the female is stressed on new guy.
Even doing this, my female maroon(difficult to pair) killed the first 2 males I got her.
But the 3rd she accepted almost right away.
Occs and pinks seem much easier.
