Clown won't eat

Hi I have a new Percula clown at least I think so but it may be an Occularis. Anyways, I have had him since Sunday but he wont eat much. I have tried flakes, Formula 1 pellet, Formula 1 frozen, mysis shrimp, and several of the above soaked in garlic extreme. He will eat a couple of the tiny Mysis shrimp (like maybe two or three) or a couple of the Formula 1 pellets. I was wondering if this is enough. I offer him food at least twice a day. Any tips on getting him to eat more. He looks good right now. I just don't want to lose him. Sorry if any of the questions are silly, I'm new to reefing. He's my first fish.

Clowns are typically pigs, but yours may just be settling in. If it's eating a couple of formula pellets a couple of times a day, it's not eating like a healthy/happy clown, but it is eating enough to survive.

If it eats a little a day then thats fine. At least its eating some thing if not eating anything then you should be alarmed. Every thing you have said sounds about normal. I agree with Kevin, your clown is probably trying to get settled in to its new home. My female ocellaris doesn't eat much every day and she is healthy.

With how thick the black is on your clown I think its a true perc. That is cool looking pattern on your clown.

update now clown doesnt look ok. He seems very pale and lays on his side periodically. The tank is at 1.024 salinity and a temperature of 80-81. I did a 2.5 gallon water change tonight (The tank is 14 gallons). I think the issue is he isn't really eating and I don't know how to get him to. I don't see any signs of brook or ick. No irregular spots, or textures. I don't know what to do. I have tried mysis, pe mysis, spirulina enriched brine shrimp, formula one pellets, frozen formula one, garlic flakes, and different combinations of the above soaked in garlic extreme. He's my first fish. I don't want to lose him.

Also frozen Cyclopeeze, it's what got my pair through a bout with a parasite. Mine also laid on their side on the bottom of the tank, and at one point it got so bad that they would spend all day just sitting on the bottom of the tank barely moving, and would tip over onto their sides for several seconds at a time before wriggling themselves upright.

If he doesn't improve after you get him eating, you may want to consider hyposalnity treatment, and keep doing water changes every day or two.
