Clownfish acting weird - I think they are breeding

I have 2 clownfish in my main display. They are acting very weird. They were shaking or vibrating for about 2 months and now the large (female) is hiding in a cubby hole and protecting it. What do I do. I have no clue how to breed or keep the babies alive if there are any?

If they are about to breed you should start noticing the male and female aggressively cleaning an area of algae, coralline, etc., for a nest site.

I believe (at least in my case) it's the male who will be guarding the nest after the eggs are laid. My female pops in from time to time but it his full time job.

As far as what to do if they are breeding. Start by reading the breeders logs in this forum. After that ask questions

I was able to get 90% of the basics in under a day just reading through the breeding logs (found in this forum for the last year). Not hard to do. The other 10% came from asking specific questions. With that said I spent about 100 bucks purchasing rotifers and food and another 50 or so at the LFS for dedicated tanks and equipment for the larvae.

I got about 35 tomato clowns from my pairs second batch of eggs at day 4 right now.

Those before us did the hard work and made it easy for us newbies to utilize their secrets to success!!!!

Shaking their bellies at each other is submissive behavior. They do it when they are pairing. My clowns do it sometimes too. Pretty cool to see!
