Clownfish Broodstock Setup

Well I have been in the process of starting a dedicated clownfish broodstock system. All tanks were purchased and drilled for bulkheads. The tanks were then divided in half by 1/8" black acrylic with top sections routed and sides drilled to allow water flow. This has been a couple week process because of the lack of free time to work on it. Thanks Travis for your insight and suggestions. Here is the overview of the system.

-(9) 20 gallon Long All Glass aquariums, w/ 1" drain and 1/2" returns.

-Mag 24 return pump

-Black 1/8" acrylic dividers in 6 of the 9 tanks.

-2" drainage plumbing to sump

-1" to 1/2" return

Pictures should be up either tonight or at least by the start of the weekend. Please be patient and of course all questions are welcome and I will do my best to anwser in somewhat of a timely manner. ENJOY!

I am also setting up broodstock tanks, or will be right after we move next month rather, but I am buying the cubicle tanks for dealers. I am sick of multiple tanks and plumbing parts, haha. I would love to see pictures!

The livestock that will inhabit this system are as follows.

(2) Pair Black & White Ocellaris
(2) Pair Ocellaris
Pair Orange Skunks
Pair Pink Skunks
Pair Naked Ocellaris
Picasso (had a pair but the ugly one jumped)
Pair GSM
Pair Clarkii
Pair True Perculas (onyx male)
Lone True Percula female (waiting for a new tank mate)

xxpipedreamxx tell me about it. Drilling the bulkheads was time consuming but the plumbing was just a plain pain in my rear. I started out with the idea of pre-made aryclic type cube system but after a call to my friendly fabrication shop, I decided to do it the hard was and use glass tanks. I ran the numbers on fabrication, building or just glass tanks and by far the cheapest was the glass tanks route.

TruVu aquariums has the cubicles rather cheap. I am definitely getting them from their website more than likely. I don't really care what shipping costs. I do believe they are about $259 right now.

I have to check them out size this setup is just temp. until I get a bigger house. I actually had Latz. but of course the had brook and last 4 months in quarintine. I might try them again down the road sometime.

I am still waiting for a pair to come my way. I did see a beautiful Blue Stripe Tomato female at a store recently and am half tempted to go back and see if she is still there :) Right now, due to space limitations, I am trying to stick with small clowns until we have a bigger place as well. We are in an upstairs two bedroom apartment ATM and the first week of October, we are moving into a townhome. We have size limitations of 50 gallons for tanks but they have never once said anything about my multiple small tanks. And correct me if I am wrong please, a 48 x 12 x 12 truvu cubicle is about 30 gallons?

RC volume counter says yes (29.9 gallons). My poor clowns are for the most part all in (2) 40 breeders right now a divided up and ready for their new homes.

Thank you very much! Well I am sure that the clowns will be happy to move into more permanent tanks :) I for one can not wait to see pictures. I have been very interested in breeding clowns for a very long time, but I am waiting on my pair to spawn :( They seem to be taking their sweet time and since I am now having to pull out the sand little by little before the move across the street and the upcoming move of their home, I am sure they will put it off even longer. But, in the meantime they will just keep growing and I would rather them be mature enough to handle a spawn.

OK unable to post pics tonight, had a little trouble with the remaining return plumbing from the Mag to the tanks. Long story short the piece I needed was malfuntioning and of course was the only item I did not buy doubles of. So I "DIY" pieces with my old Mag 12 and will have to make trip # 6 to Home Depot tomorrow but will post pics then.
