I've had these two maroon clowns in qt for about 5 weeks now, and 2 weeks ago the female's gills started looking like this

It's kind of hard to see, but the black part of the gill has just black ridges. I've been doing formalin dips every other day for two weeks now and it seems to not be changing much. Is it actually Brooklynella or is it normal. There are no other symptoms.

What do you mean with "gills"? The operculum?

Black borders are normal around the white bands and some of the fins.

Brooklynella will not manifest itself with black or dark coloration but rather with whitish slime/plaque patches that may form strings at advanced stages as well as frayed fins.

I guess the black border has a frayed appearance. As in its not a solid line but jagged

Yes I was talking about those. I've just never seen them on my other fish, so is this special to clownfish?
