clownfish bullying another.....

one of my clowns (not sure if percula or ocelaris....identify for me if you would) was bullying the somewhat smaller one. would chase it all the time.

more than once i found the smaller one either laying in the skimmer gasping for air from the water just barely covering him or over in the overflow where the pump is on my biocube.

i liked the coloration on the larger one, so i ended up taking the smaller clown to the LFS & traded it in for Fiji Blue Devil Damselfish.....take that mr bully LOL the new damsel doesn't seem to be taking any crap from the clown but they still seem to be getting along ok. while i was there, i also picked up a small red starfish & a banded coral shrimp.

questions.....
1) please identify if the one i have is a percula or an ocelaris?

2) when i move everthing over to the 50gal i am in the process of building, would this one get along w/ a black/white if i introduced them to the new tank at the same time?

3) if no on #2, should i get a larger or smaller of the same as i have now?

4) should i think about adding an anemone to the new tank & if so, what would you recommend?

Whether the two would get along would depend on the size and gender. If you've kept the black one alone, chances are that it's become a female. The larger clown you had that bullied the other fish... Sounds like another female to me. I suspect that if you put them in the same tank, even introduced at the same time, they would fight it out until one or the other dies.

I'm not an expert, but this is what I would suspect would happen. :/

As for the anemone, BTAs (bubble tip anemones) are pretty popular and are probably one of the easiest 'nems to keep. They--like other anemones--require very stable water conditions, as you probably know. So... I would suggest adding a BTA after at least 6 months after setting up the tank. Perhaps after an even longer period if your params are funky still.

Hope this helps. :)
