I picked up this pair of clowns today and they where sold as True perculas which they very well could be but I've never seen a true perc with such wide white markings. What do you guys think?

Yes they are true perculas; they may have some picasso in them which would explain the markings

I agree. These could be babies of Picasso parents. There's always s percentage that look more like normal percs than Picassos. I'd say these are right in the middle.

They are a. Percula variation. The clowns seem to have Onyx in them too which leads me to believe their parents were bred to have Onyx-Picasso babies. These just don't have as wide of a white bar to qualify them as such. I personally would call them semi Onyx Picasso clowns or something in that category.

So basically they where bred to be designer clowns but didn't make the cut? I'm not to concerned about them not being a "high end" clownfish cause I think there beautiful. I just wasn't sure if they where wild caught or mislabeled for something else, the sales person didn't seem to know a whole lot about them.

I like your attitude. I would agree that they are labeled correctly as a variation of percula, which for most defaults to true percs.
