clownfish issues

Is it possible for a clownfish to get stung by an anemone. I have two tank raised oscellaris clowns in my tank for about 1 month and a BEAUTIFUL carpet anemone that looks so good that I want to dive in it!!! But of course my clowns are ignoring it.

I went to the store the other day and saw another oscellaris clown which was wild cought and it was in the anemone. I decided to buy it so maybe this one can set an example for the others. There was a bit of fighting when I put him in the tank but nothing major(he is smaller than the others). He strated to hover around the anemone and touched in once in a while that was about it. The next day I looked at my new clown and it looked like skin was peeling from his head!!!! Did he get stung??? It actually looks better today but he is still not eating. I have couple of friends that suggested I take him back. What do you guys think? Is it possible for a clown to get stung by an anemone?

yes they can be stung by an anemone or corals, they have not built up a good mucus covering, however I think for you to add another clown was not a good idea, 3 is a crowd and will not work in the long run, it is also very possible that your new clown has some kind of disease or parasite being its a wild caught, but usually if a clown is stung they get spots on them, mine got black spots all over

It wasnt black spots it looks like white spots but it is starting to go away. As if his skin has peeled off, weird. I think I am just going to give up on this whole anemone clownfish business

it takes alot of patience you have not had the anemone long, some clowns can take months to finally host and some just never do I have a pair of Oc. Clowns and they have never hosted had them almost a year, but my other tank has true percs and they hosted in 5 mins

Its not a good idea two mix two diff. kinds of clowns right?

Right. is not a good idea to mix different types of Amphiprion, unless your tank is very large.It is my understanding that in the sea,clownfish
may never leave a 1 cubic meter area and will defend that area to the death. I have also read but not observed that clownfish generally pair off and allow a third of the same species to live on the priphery of there area. The third fish serves as a spare partner should one of the pair die.

I have kept a pair of tomato clowns for about four years . They have paired as male and female and comfortably host in a rose bubble anemone. They breed regulary, I aslo have a pair of tank raised ocellaris who host in a hammer coral in another tank.
