I'll try to keep this short...
I got into this hobby about 2 1/2 years ago because, like many my girlfriend (now wife) wanted "nemo." So partly on an impulse we purchased a NanoCube 12 and not long after we picked up a False Percula from Petco.
About 6 months later I tried to pair her up with a similiar size true perc... didn't work out so well and I wound up giving up the true perc and let the original perc to recover from it's bruises etc.
After another 6 months (year ago) we saw some pretty small false percs in an LFS so I thought I'd give it another shot thinking the similiar size was the problem in the first attempt.
At first there was a little agression / testing from the larger clown and that settled down a few weeks later and they've been relatively fine. I don't think they ever really "paired"
The clowns even still sleep and follow each other around 90% of the time but I've been noticing a bit more agression lately. The 2nd clown has grown quite a bit and is only slightly smaller than the original. The original clown is also much darker on the top half of it's body than it used to be. Is it showing it's colors somehow?
The original clown is only about 2.5" and seems abnormally small, also it's dorsal fin has always been a spike instead of rounded like a typical percula. I was told it may have been a birth defect.
My concern is that the 2nd clown is going to outgrow the original and I'm going to have 2 females and will have to remove one.
