Clownfish Problems, Pics, Not dial-up friendly

I can start doing water changes almost right now as I have a bunch of SW mixed already. I can add a lot of RO to bring the salinity lower also. Since I am mixing though, what would be a good way to make sure that the PH is right about 8.2-8.3 where my tanks are all at

Ok, I have a good size chunk that I can put in there. I will wait until I get the salinity down before I put it in there just so I can be sure that I have diluted what formalin and malachite green was in there even further to preserve some of the biological filtering of the LR.

Also, I am going to be ordering the formalin on Thursday after I get paid. Gotta love the Army and our crazy pay schedule.

why by formalin? it doesnt help with brook. Use the Lr for its pH an less of a filter. Might do a 50% water change too remove the chemical. They mainly work on internal parasites. Brook is a little tougher.

Everything that I had read recommended using a formalin dip regimen to help get rid of brook. I guess there are many different methods to help get rid of parasites/diseases though.
I am currently adding more RODI to my saltwater reservoir to get the salinity just right. I am working it down to about 1.005 so that when I do the water change, the salinity will almost be where it needs to. Does that sound like a good strategy, or should I bring the salinity down more gradually over the course of a day or a few hours?

a clownfish can be used to cycle a attack so its not made of glass. I'd let the water sit at least 30mins under good flow before anyone gets added thou. Don't want to cause an burns to the fish with undissolved salt.
New carbon should suck up most of the chemical crap too.

Here are the few pics that I took earlier. They didn't come out too clear so I don't know if you can see anything from them. Will try and get some better ones tomorrow.

I debated on giving the little guy a FW dip as was mentioned, but my wife flipped out as I was getting the water ready for him. She has tried FW dips twice before when trying to help out sick clowns and both times the clown died within 15 minutes after the dip. So she talked me out of it for now. I wish there was a foolproof way to try and cure these fish.

the red spot on his first stripe I've seen before. Either a sign of blood loss or bacterial infection. Either is not good for him.

If you don't FW dip he might be dead tomorrow anyways. Watch him until he show signs of stress.

The blurry white on teh top find looks like ich. Brook tends to be more of a slime.

What would work for a bacterial infection if thats the case?

Alright, for a FW dip, use RODI and mix in baking soda to get the PH as close to that of the QT correct? Then leave him in there for how long (or until he shows signs of stress)?

I have the water for the dip aerating right now. There is a little bit of LR rubble in there from my sump. Matching the PH was a little of a pain though, but I believe that I finally have it right on.
After he goes back into the qt, should I add in a little stress coat and some melafix?

Whoa...

First, let's clear up some myths with the actual documented cures:

1. Hypo for ich
2. Copper for Amyloo
3. Formalin for Brook

Spending a few minutes on this site will save huge amounts of pain and suffering:
http://www.petsforum.com/personal/trevor-jones/fishdiseases.html

Given the measured nitrites, popeye, skin lesions, and clamped fins, the fish could be dealing with any number of causes outside of Brook, Amyloo, or ich.

At this point, waterchanges and hypo are a net positive regardless of the situation. Hypo does have some benefits beyond ich treatment, but it will not cure Amyloo or Brook. This is the hypo strategy:

Medicating with an antibacterial is not a bad idea, but I would use one that allows mixing with copper if required later.

I would not freshwater dip any fish based on the pictures, water conditions, and information at hand. There is far too little information to diagnose and medication in any direction is just a guess.

Waterchanges toward hypo.
Feed and remove uneaten food and waste 30mins later.
Possibly add something like Maracyn/Maracyn 2 to treat potential bacterial events.

Update us tomorrow and good luck.

Ok. I appreciate both of your help with this. Given past bad experiences with FW dips, I am leaning much more towards going with just the hypo and an antibacterial. I would really rather not lose another clown anytime soon.
He is still eating as of right now, not like any of my other clowns, but I don't expect fish in QT to act like ones that have been in a display tank for 8 months or more. He has been eating many different foods, so I will take that as a good sign. The earliest that I will be able to get ahold of some maracyn/maracyn2 will be tomorrow or thursday. I really want to hold off a FW dip as a last resort.

So, thanks to both of you for all your help. I just noticed the time, and 4:45 comes really early tomorrow, so I gotta get off here and hit the sack so I don't miss work in the morning. Getting the salinity down to hypo tonight and tomorrow morning and will try to get some better pics and some more water tests in while I am at it.

Getting the tank down to hypo tonight or at the latest tomorrow morning. He still ate today so thats a good sign.
Too late and I gotta get up at 3:30 in the morning, so I will have to wait till tomorrow to update and see whats going on.

Thanks for the help everyone, esp Phender, MimicTang, and Traveller7!

I have been pressing a little bit of fresh garlic into the food every other day. I usually leave the small chunks of garlic that the press leaves in there because the blue tang seems to love them.

Will update more later. Going to the LFS to pick up some stuff. Have a coupon that if I spend $100 then I get $50 off. :D I love those types of coupons.

Newest pics from just a few minutes ago. :) He is up and swimming quite a bit more. I have the salinity down to 1.010 and will have it down just a bit more within a few hours. I put in some Hikari pellets and he was quite active in snatching a few of them up, even beating out the yellow tang for a few of them. Just FYI, the pellets on the bottom were just in there for a few minutes now, they are not leftovers from before ;) Will be siphoning them out in about a half hour.
Heres the pics of today. Notice no clamped fins, no external parasites that I could see, just a few of the red spots under his stripes. I think he is looking better.... but anyways, heres the pics:
