Clownfish sleeping in anemone only

Hello everyone,
my clownfish started nipping the anemones tentacles around 5 days ago, and the next day it was swimming in and out of the anemone!! But now it's been 5 days and the clownfish only sleeps in the anemone, and when the lights turn on it leaves the anemone and pretends the anemone never existed.

So my question is: Why is my clownfish only sleeping in the anemone and not truly hosting it?

Thank you

They only use anemones in the wild for protection, hence why it's only there at night. This is normal and most things in the wild aren't able to be duplicated in our tanks no matter how hard we try. I wouldn't worry about it

There is much more to it than just protection from predators. The most likely reason that the fish leaves the anemone during the day is that it's not its natural host.
My percula hardly ever leave their anemones, and if, only to grab food or chase intruders away.

The dependency of clownfish on their anemones goes definitely deeper. The protection from predators is just the most obvious, but not necessarily the only or even true purpose of this symbiosis.

Ok thank you all, it is unfortunately a BTA and not a natural host.

How do you guys like the megnifica anemone? I would LOVE to get one but am very worried about it moving and killing my Corals. What has your experience been?

Thank you

Magnificas can be kept put in one place if you place them on an elevated place where they can't touch any wall or other item that may give them the idea that there might be a higher place worth traveling to.

They also need good light - a LED dead center above them should do the trick.

Lastly they also need good flow.

For more detailed advise I would ask a Mod to move this thread to the Anemones and Clownfish section. There you will find the experts on magnificas.

Thanks. I completely forgot to post this on the anemone & clownfish forum.

I agree with you, but even with ideal husbandry nothing is guaranteed
