clownfish surviving on copepods?

i have two ocellaris clownfish(one chocolate other orange) in 10g. have had them for 6 days. tank cycled for month before adding them. water paremeters normal. my problem is this. the chocolate is larger(so im gonna call it a she) and she eats flake, pellet, and copepods off the glass. the orange one(or he) will not eat flake or pellet food. however he does eat copepods off the glass. will this sustain him or should i be worried?

I would try some frozen food like mysis, krill, rods food, etc... It likely won't be able to feed on enough copepods to sustain itself. It is still getting used to the new environment so it could start eating what you are feeding now.

ok thanks for the quick response. i will give it a couple more days then try different food if its not working out. btw how often should i feed them. ive read so much different stuff. ive been feeding them once a day with flake and pellet both as whatever falls to bottom the brittle star and other cuc get or the filter sucks up when i turn it back on.

My clowns aren't picky and I watch them both eat pods off the back glass (I think the color contrast helps them see the pods). Just from my experience, albeit limited, if they are hungry they will find the flake/pellet/mysis or any other food you're putting in the tank. Again in my limited experience it seems most of us overfeed our tanks (me included) so it's probably not bad that they are finding their own food. Less we have to put in tank right?

I have had two clowns for years. They lived in my toadstood leather.

Here is a youtube of them in leather. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CpDvHkCCpW8

A few of weeks ago, one jumped into my brine shrimp feeding net and I never noticed till next day, dead inside.

Remaining clown appeared to miss his mate and stopped eating.

I got a replacement clown and they quickly paired up. However neither of them are eating. Been over a week. Tried garlic dip for flake and frozen brine shrimp.still won't eat.

Any ideas to get them eating? Don't want to lose both. Fish store said they can go weeks without eating.

picky eaters I'd starve them :p but Formula 2 Marine pellets hardly fails...only one time it didn't work but he loves it now. live brine shrimp should do the trick for any picky eaters though.

I'll try formula 2. Would love to switch to pellets (cleaner food). However since I do have a Tiger copepod farm loaded with live tigers for myMadarin in my other tank. I'll try feeding the clowns the Live Tigers. (Why didn't I think of that)....thanks for the suggestion.

ok. I tried feeding copepods. Can't tell if clown are eating them. Certanly not when I feed.

Waiting for batch of Brine Shrimp to mature. Should be ready tomorrow.

Is it possible for 2 clowns to encourage each other to NOT EAT? Both are NOT eating and just hanging around their Toadstood leather.
(( THey are not breathing hard, or appear to be stressed at all))

I thought introducing a new Clown would get other to eat.

I think one post said they could be pecking at food while I'm not watching. Doesn't appear to that way from what I see.

This has been over a week. They must either eat, of they will both die.

Anyone have this kind of problem?

I got my scooter blenny to eat after a week of getting skinny and starving ...my method was.....I used mysis with formula 2 pellets. Added a drop of kent garlic extract to the mix..and dropped it on the rock where my clown/blenny liked to rest. After a minute they both ate it.. Unfortunately, now he'll (clown)only eat when it comes out of the turkey baster....blenny goes nuts either way......but it's ok

try small cuts of table shrimp and reason why they don't eat much cause they are on their pod diet. if they are swimming around they're fine.
