Clownfish turning black?

Bought a false perc from a LFS. It's starting to turn dark especially behind the white stripe behind his head.

Is it un-happy? Just a bad coloration? (Fish is young so color may be changing).

Here's a crummy pic. In fact the fish looks quite a bit darker in the pic than it really is. It's back behind it's head is slowly getting real close to black.

Could it be a maturity/sex change thing?

can you get a clearer pic.? almost looks like a percula.

also are you sure it wasn't a black & white?

either way I wouldn't be concerned about it turning black.

There's a picture of him about a week ago. You can see in this pic the orange is getting darker. The difference over the past week is that behind the first white bar on his back is now nearly black instead of burnt orange.

that last pic makes it look like a true percula to me. I have never owned a true perc so I can't say how fast the black comes in on them.

does it go into any corals or anemones? alot of times that seems to cause the black to show fairly fast.

what you have is a true percula not a false. it is simple developing better colors in my opinion. maturing also, nothing to worry about

I also bought a "false perc" and mine developed black markings as well. I've had some people check it out and everyone tells me it's a true perc. I was worried about the black marks at first but she seems healthy and is doing just fine.
