My occel. clown has white stringy poop so he has a parasitic infection right? I treated the tank with prazipro about 3 days ago and no changes in his condition. he still hides, won't eat, and breathes really heavy. what should i do? is there a mix or bath i could prepare for him with the prazipro? or another treatment that might work better? please help. thanks.

One of my juvenile picasso clowns has the same thing. I will try to post a pic tonight. I just treated him for one hour in a prazipro dip (concentration of 1/4tsp in a gallon of water) and then returned him to the tank.

Anyone with advice? I plan to do again in a couple of days. He sometimes seems fine and other times lays on the bottom with heavy breathing. Eating very lightly. Other times more active. This behavior has been going on for a couple of weeks now.

I would use not a dip or bath but QT him and Treat him with ParaGuard. I had a wild cought clown a few months back that had white feces and was breathing super heavy.. If the clown (s) are wild cought then its probabley Clownfish Disease or Brooklynella. ParaGuard did cure my clown.

If its just parasites you could use garlic like Kents GarlicXtreme and after some time it may help to rid the parasites.

Some say the only treatment for Brook is Formalin which is hard to find anymore but ParaGuard helped me.. Hope this Helps.

What are your water parameters?

Is he in a QT? With other fish?

What are you feeding?

You definitely want to make sure water quality is as good as you can possibly make it, and try different foods to hopefully find something he'll go after.

My clowns go crazy for frozen cyclops.

I don't mean to hijack this thread... the OP hasn't chimed in but my fish has the same exact trail...

Params good... water change regular. Protein skimmer, etc. very low bioload for 200gal system with refug... bla, bla, bla.

I put him in a bath of Prazipro. Hasn't been 'laying' on the bottom since. Still had one more 'puke' out the butt but is more active after the 1 hr dip. Hoping he is recovering.

As long as you're offering a variety of quality foods, and his tankmates aren't stressing him, it sounds like you should just be watching for changing symptoms at this point.

Are you feeding an omnivore diet?
