Clownfish with Seahorses

I would love to keep a pair of perculas with my seahorses. (Reidii and Erectus) The expert reports seem to conflict. If anyone has first hand experience keeping them together, any information would be greatly
appreciated. It is a seahorse tank, so it goes without saying that their welfare comes first. Please help me make an informed decision.

Well, I have never tried that.... and never will. Clowns with their fast movements and behavior will definitely stress the horses. There may be someone to differ, but I wouldn't recommend keeping them together.

My instincts are pretty much telling me the same thing seas-inside. Became confused after reading on seahorse.com that clownfish made great tankmates for seahorses. But their rowdy behavior, while enchanting to watch, does seem as though it would stredd the ponies. I guess I'll tell my husband it has become necessary to start a another new tank.;)

Well, I would hesitate to introduce a pair into a seahorse tank. That could bring issues that would be stressful for everyone.

I kept my tomato clown with a pair of female seahorses for four years. The clown was in first and she never did pay much attention to the SH.
I don't think our seahorses are as faint of heart as we might think. They learn and adapt like any other fish.
However, like all of us, the seahorses would have won out if the clown had shown aggression.

I have had a gold stripe maroon (~5 inches) with my sea horses...no problems....then moved him to his 55 gallon(clown).

Now i have a ~5 inche perclua in the seahorse tank (about a year now) no problems

.. And more conflicting advice. I have never tried, but from all the reading I have done, clowns are iffy. Works for some, not for others.

If you really, really want to try this, be prepared to remove the clowns should there be problems. Make sure you have someplace ahead of time for the clowns to go.

the reason why most people put seahorses w/ pipefish is b/c they are both VERY slow. clowns are fast just like most other fishes and they have a tendency to eat the SH/pipefish food. I have snails, you know the itty bitty kind, and they get the fish food before the SH's do, so imagine a fish, just my opinion. as you can see from previous threads it can be done, I myself say "no way". that's why I have 3 aquariums, one w/ fish and other 2 w/ SH.
