Clownfish?

What type of clownfish do I have hear? He's so scared of cameras I couldnt get a good picture but I thought maybe you guys/girls could help.

Im leaning towards A. Sebae, But not 100% on this one.. (this is my favorite game on the forum) They are difficult to tell when juvi's. Might be a juvi allardi or clarkii.

How old before they're not considered juvenile?

Depends on the clown but usually 9-15 months and until youve got a sub-adult.

The yellow markings on the lower half of the caudal fin tells that it is not A. Polymnus..

A. Clarkii is probably correct

good point regarding the lower yellow fin...you may be right...
but I'll be danged cause they sure do look alot alike, don't they?

I think he's pretty neat either way. That sebae looks really close only I've not seen any with a white tail.

It's a black clarkii. Not really a different species from a clarkii, just a darker variation. True sebaes don't have the tail stripe.

Not a saddleback (A. polymnus) or true sebae (A. sebae). The body shape is different in the polymnus clan. Most likely a clarki, allardi have a yellow ventral area and usually look like they have big eyes at that age.

The problem is that so many retailers sell clarkis as sebaes for some reason. I had one sell me a "sebae" a few months ago. I knew it was a clarki but he looked great and was priced about right so I just bought him as a sebae because I didn't feel like disagreeing with him. If you put a true sebae next to a clarki the difference is pretty obvious.
