I have two false percs and am getting a MH light soon. my tank is a 37 gallon and i've heard that most anemones will get too big for the tank.. I really want an anemone, but if that wont work, what coral should I get that will host the clowns. Thanks alot

There is no way to predict clown behavior. Even if you had an anemone they might not host in it...BUT in my experience they usually start. Mine use frogspawn, a goniopora (I dont recommend due to their difficulty), leathers, etc. I even have some fry that use caulerpa algae. For corals I'd say frogspawn, hammers, leathers...a torch might be good since it looks a lot like a anemone...but they will host about anything. As for a anemone getting too big for your tank...it depends on what all you want to keep. They do get big but would never get physically TOO big for that tank, just might get big enough to bother corals and such.

Physically too big...no...but maybe big enough to irritate nearby corals and such. Just depends on how bad you want the anemone on whether your willing to sacrifice a good bit of room for him as he grows. I dont personally have BTA's but I have a Sebae thats about 18" diameter and a LTA thats about 12" at least. Luckily for them they are my favorite things in the tank because they do take up some major real estate in my 180 Gallon. I have personally never seen a BTA that big...I think they generally split before they get that huge. I personally dont think a BTA would be a bad idea in a 37 gallon. I have seen them stay in tanks smaller than that for years. Just dont get in a rush and make sure your tank is pristine before you get one...and make sure the one you get is healthy.

For reference I got an RBTA in November; it was about 2". It split three weeks ago, each anemone is about 3" in base and 5" extended.

I think they do tend to split when they start to get larger. I would recommend about an 8" circumference from any corals.
