I just noticed my clowns laid eggs on small piece of rock! Can i just wait till they turn silver and place them in a 10 gallon spare tank and feed them the AlgaGen Rotifers from live aquaria or is there alot more to it?
Well I know you make a reservoir to hold the rotifers while feeding them Nannochloropsis. Feed them quiet often and change out a half or more everyday so they can keep up their population and not over populate. Feed the babies 3 or 4 times a day and then start them with some brine later on around day 7 or so. Im gonna skip this go around with the eggs because I'm not completely ready but I really would like to try it later on.
Let the 1st 3 batches become food and try with the 4th batch, by that time the parents will have it down to how to care for the eggs and you will get a better turn out on the babies. I would also suggest getting a piece of tile and put that where they lay the eggs, once they lay on the tile it is much easier to transfer the eggs to the fry tank.
And do they lay eggs a long time after their first batch? Sry for all the questions just kind of pumped cause I guess that means I'm doing something right. lol
Im not sure about the pvc pipe, never heard of anyone trying it but its worth a shot.
As for them laying, mine lay every 12-14 days like clockwork. They should lay for years like this if conditions stay good. So yes your doing it right by having a stable and safe tank for the clowns.
Alright thanks! I just placed a PVC pipe in to see if they will lay in it. If not they will hopefully lay on the some piece of live rock which is really small.
