Clowns pair?

Please excuse my ignorance in this matter. I had thought that clowns were aggressive and that putting two together means they might fight...is this accurate...I am hoping to get a 29 gal. bio-cube and move existing clown and host anemone into that tank...if add a second clown will that be a problem? How do you get them to pair up?

What type of clownfish first of all? Some species are harder to pair than others. I am going to assume the clown you have belongs in the percula complex so your best bet is too get a juvenile individual "male," to place with your existing clownfish.

When pairing two Amphiprion ocellaris (false perculas) or Amphiprion Percula (True Perculas) the more dominant clownfish will become the female and the other the male. If you get one that is noticeably smaller than the other it can make it easier for them to determine who is dominant, rather than fighting it out their size will determine it rather than aggression.

I got two 1/2" Ocellaris from ORA and they paired up in less than a few weeks. Anyways, I strongly suggest NOT buying the 29g Oceanic Bio Cube.

Pros:
You have a tank

Cons:
Not enough light to keep an anemone
The bio-balls in the 2nd chamber are a nitrate factory
Very bad flow rate
AND when the clowns are pairing up and one chases the others, the one being chased always ends up in one of the filter chambers (normally #2 or #3)

Also, the Red Sea Max comes with a really nice, great protein skimmer! The fish don't jump in the back because there is a little lip on the back wall, you get 380GPH of water flow, the tank is bigger, and the filtration is WAY better! BTW, I have a pair of Black Ocellaris in my 34g and they absolutely love it! The like all the anemones in there, too!

I've never had a RSM, but I've heard good things about them. I can also put in a good word for the 34G Current Solana, which I have now. Pricier than the BC, but much more stylish and better designed, IMO. I have 2 juvenile TR black ocellaris and they're doing really well in there. It's a great tank.

Well, I have had an anemone in a bio-cube for over a year and it is thriving. The light source is sufficient. I also use seachem's vitality nutrient dip when feeding the anemone.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but didn't yours recently split?

No...mine has never split....I was asking in another post about how do you get an anemone to split...
