These fish have dug up whole tank 1 inch sand to piles 4 inches in places. there in 25 gal seem ok but there realy makeing a mess . wanted to start corals but they will burry them up. Is this normal ?
I have a pair in my 29 frag tank that pretty much leave the sand alone. They go down and wiggle in it once in awhile but thats it.
My Black Percs in my 90g have taken the sand bed to the glass on "Their" side of the tank. Seems they have deemed the left rear corner and most of the side as theirs and dig it up all the time. I quit trying to fix it since by morning they dug it all up again. They really don't dig it up per say but use their bodies and wiggle back and forth real fast to move the sand. They luckily leave the rest of the tank untouched.
I guess it depends on the fish themselves if they will do it or not.....
Pretty common, My clown does it too!
It is Not as bad as what my 8 inch red dottyback use to excavate.
He would move ten pounds of crushed coral every few days . What a pain in the butt!
