clowns stressing sabae

does anyone have any ideas on how i can try to keep my clowns out of the anemone? he's in the refugium right now but afraid the PC lights wont be enough, but don't want the clowns to bother him in the DT. any ideas on seperating the clowns and the anemone in the DT?

it's a malu sabae that's 3" - 4". it's pink with greenish/purple tips. it's not bleached. it's foot is on the lighter side though, like a creamish color.

the clowns are tomato clowns. the female is about 2" - 3". the male is about an 1". is the anemone too small for the clowns? it didn't take the clowns long to find the anemone, about an hour or two before it started rubbing all over the anemone.

Yea, it is too small for a pair of clowns (( let alone one tomato )). Clowns can "love to death" anemones that are too small. Might be able to make a cage out of egg create to keep them out of the anemone.

Would want the anemone to be at least 6" across before the clowns are allowed to be hosted by it.

thanks. i'll try that. it seems to be giving mixed results in the refugium though. do you think i should try the box in the display tank? or let him heal in the refugium? i'm only running PCs in the refugium and am worried that the cheato might block some of the light.

That is a tough question. I am going to assume that the fuge isn't all that deep, so it won't be all that far away from the lights. For the short term it might be best to leave it in there --- though I would prune the cheato back to allow for more light.

Just keep an eye on it, and if it looks like it isn't getting enough light move it to the display tank --- but will have to acclimate it to the lights there if they are T5's and/or MH.

thanks again for you help. i'll trim the cheato to make sure he has as much light as possible. the DT is MH and PC.

the fuge is sectioned off. 12" x 12" and i believe the light is a 65W PC

+1. I used to feed mine peeled shrimp, or chopped pieces of silversides.
