clowns

Well I'm not a huge fan of clowns but they are a lot higher on the list of fish I like than damsels and I am looking to get it started with getting it ready for other fish. I was planning on getting one or 2 clowns at first and that was it. If I get 1 clown I'm going to get the black and white (the name got away from me) or 2 brown saddle clowns.

Sorry new to these boards, meant to be a reply to my other post...

i would get 2 of the Australian black and white Ocellaris clowns they are awesome i have them in my tank real cool clown IMO.:)

Are you talking about cycling a tank with the fish or adding the fish to a cycled tank?

I agree, there is really no need to punnish any fish in that manner.

it's to prepare for more fish, the tank's only been set up for about 2 weeks. I wasn't planning on getting any for a while but my LFS has trouble coming by the black and white ocellaris clowns so it might take 2 or 3 months if they aren't too lucky, so I was wondering if it would be a good or bad ieda just to get 1 rather than just stop in when it's time and snag the other clowns I would want.

that sucks really cool clowns:) the next pair im getting for my 34g is going to be true percs cool looking clowns. but dont get any fish to prepare your tank just wait out the full 4-6 weeks then it will be fine to add anything to your tank.

Please wait til your tank is fully cycled before adding any fish. If it takes your LFS 2 or 3 months to get them in then thats a good thing. You dont want to rush anything in this hobby. It's not fair for the animals.

Totally agree with above. The days of using fish to cycle a tank are over. If you want a source to build biological capability put a dead table shrimp (uncooked) as a source of ammonia.
