Clowwnfish pairing not going as planned

So, I got a new GSM (about 1") to pair with my established WSM (about 3"). I had everything planned: a hang-in acrylic holding container so the bigger clownfish could see the new guy, but not get to him. . .well, the little guy must have managed to get through one of the larger holes or wiggled his way over the top. In short, he's out in the main tank, and I'm wondering whether or not I should just leave him. The larger one was acting fairly aggressive while they were separated, but I've seen worse in my previous failed attempt at pairing. At first, the smaller one was doing the submission dance and the twitching, but eventually stopped. I'm guessing he figured out the bigger guy couldn't get to him. Now that there are no walls around them, the little guy is getting chased around a little, but so far no damage, and the chases never last long and usually only happen when the new guy wanders too close to the bigger one's territory. The tanks have been out for most of the time with just ambient room light, so I don't know if that's why the larger clownfish isn't being too aggressive.

So, here's my question. I'll be at work all day tomorrow, and I'm a bit concerned about the two of them being together "unsupervised". I have made a little container with a hole big enough for the small guy, but not for the bigger one and put it in the tank. Whether or not the little guy will be smart enough to go in there if harassed, I'm not sure. Should I try to get him out of the main tank until I can be around to keep an eye on them, or just take the fact that he's still in one piece as a good sign?

agreed even tho it took me 5 juvi's before i could pair a 5" female maroon. then my wifes boss hired someone to take care of the tank and killed both fish.

o well i had them doing great. just patients and if hes still around when you get home from work then i say you are doing good.

I would def. not worry about tomorrow if today go's ok.

My juvi got out of its contain on the morning of day two. (had been in the container about 14 hours) She chased him non stop the rest of the day, and he got pretty tore up. The second night, they were in the nem together. have been ever since
