Club Equipment suggestion: Generator

I suggest to consider a generator for club use, or perhaps two small ones, just enough to run a heater and some pumps maybe... Just a thought.

Generators are very expensive, And when the Power is out how do you decide Who gets It when outages are usually widespread???:thumbdown

Maybe find them used, or at a deal over time. I think first come first serve would be the protocol...then pass it on asap...or perhaps one stipulation, power must have been out at least 12hrs (maybe 24) and then first come first serve.

Instead, maybe we need to create a list of club members (with their general location) who have generators, then they can rent them to fellow club members for say $30/day, trade for frags, something...

Oh, and outages aren't typically THAT widespread, I work for an electric utility. For instance, tkimmons85 and I are about 4 miles apart, he has power, I do not, he has a generator, I do not...perfect situation/example to supply/rent or trade... I know he's willing to let me borrow it though.

I have had good luck with the cheap generators from Harbor fright. Not sure if I am able to say the place or not. If you take care of it like not leaving fuel in it when not in use. and just running the tank.

Your suggestion on Members that already have one Seems to be the best Idea. The Club will not be buying a generator at this time, Just to be clear!
While we are on the Subject there is Lots of New Equipment that everyone wanted that is not being used as much as I would like to see, So who needs to borrow Next???

Just a suggestion Bill but maybe someone can do some tutorials and post them here (in a new thread of course) to show how to use some of the equipment that is available?

When I see some of the stuff that is available I would not want to check it out cause I have never used one before so I would be scared to mess something up or even worse break something.

The PAR meter, Phos Checker and Kilowatt meter are things that I would not have interest in cause I have never used them before.

That might be the case of why certain people are'nt using these things..

Has Jennifier 615 asked for the two new testers yet Bill? I know that I would like to know what our tank is doing.

I have a set coming back from pickupman66 if you want he can send them direct to you as he is UPSing them! LMK if you are interested and I will get with Lindsay.

i'd borrow the par meter but its no use when i only have 3 out of 4 t5s working due to needing my ballast fixed and i cant do that with out a replacement for the time being...bart seems like the only one that can help me out with an ice cap 660 and we can never hook up so i can get it and then send mine in for repair

The Hanna Checkers come with very Precise directions and are very easy to use, And the Par Meters are easy also as you just turn it on and put the sensor where you want to measure. It Don't get much easier!
