From someone that just joined the hobby last summer it's been disappointing to say the least. I don't know how active CMAS was before, but it seems pretty non existent now. I was hoping to attend frag swaps and meet fellow reefers, but it seems I'll have to take a long drive to a neighboring club to make that happen. [emoji53]

You are right. I got into the hobby in about 2008. There were many more people and CMAS was a large, active club. A few years later it seems like someone new was posting "œleaving the hobby" threads every day. Many were experienced hobbyists who just got hit by the terrible economy and couldn't keep their tanks.
I do have to say, as someone who is getting back into being active, (kept my tanks running on "œauto pilot") the situation seems to be getting better.
Just start meeting people and making friends. Post on the forums. Especially the local forums The one large, national forum seems to have banned a lot of the experienced hobbyists.
