CO2 Cylinder - Where to Buy?

OK... I bought a calcium reactor, solenoid, pH controller.... and have everything I need except the CO2 tank.

Where is a good place locally to get something smaller than the aluminum 80 that I strap on my back when I go diving?

Thanks for your suggestions.

I got mine at:

High Plains Welding Supplies
3035 S Umatilla St
Englewood
(303) 789-2844

Tanks aren't cheap but the refills are. Figure on close to $100 for the first tank filled up. After that they're $10 to fill.

Any Beer Brewing supply shop will have bottles from 1lbs to 20lbs and can fill them with a clean food grade CO2. Neptunes also had some instock.

I looked around for quite awhile before I just bought one on ebay, it seemed to be the best deal I could find.

The beer supply stores also rent them (or they used to at least). It actually works out pretty well if you're not having to refill often. You basically get to keep the tank for as long as you want on a charge and then pay a bit extra when you refill. I looked into it several years ago when I was setting up a FW planted tank. (I was ready to do it and then stumbled across a good deal on a used 10 pounder.)

I bought my 5# bottle from a homebrewery store for $74 , cheaper than I found even on ebay after you figure in shipping. We also sell some 20# where I work for $150 but I'm not sure the grade on those.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll check them out and see what I can find. Never would have thought of a brewery supply!

:)
