Co2

Where is the best place to go to have a Co2 tank filled for my calcium reactor? I live in west Knox so hopefully close to me.

Fyr Fyter is the best I've found.
$10 to fill a 10# tank and they are friendly and fast.
3301 Rudy St

Knoxville Fire Extinguisher on Volunteer is okay, but they only fill certain days and sometimes charge a 'start up fee', so I stopped going there.

I used to go to Air Gas out there by Harper's VW/Audi, right between Parkside Dr and Kingston.

Melly means Air Weld and they have moved off of Middlebrook Pike... They do not refill CO2, only exchange tanks...

ahhhh...yes...Air Weld!

I always just exchanged my tank anyways.

I didn't even know that there was a place you could actually go get yours refilled.

Filling is a few bucks cheaper than exchanging... That and some people don't want to trade in their nice Aluminum tanks, they paid $90 for, for a cheapie steel version... :D

Most of mine were steel as well... I had an Aluminum one, but traded for a steel one... lol :D I don't care, its not like anyone sees it anyways... Besides, I got it as part of the reactor package, and a full steel one does me a heck of a lot more good than an empty Aluminum...

Both of the places I mentioned fill. I've got a sassy aluminum tank (and a big honkin' 15# steel one), so I'd be peeved if I got some fugly rusted steel one exchanged for it.

I bought my 15# steel tank for like $35 or $45 (came filled) at Fyr Fyter. That seemed like an awesome deal to me...

Melly~ Sure did... :) The Al came from another guy, when I had my Korralin reactor...

I wouldn't count on getting an Al tank... They're only 3x the price of the steel... lol

I just got back with a full Co2 tank so I'm ready to set up my Geo calcium reactor, this is my first one so wish me luck!

I meant that if CO2 gets into the reef tank in excess of what is used to decrease the pH in the reactor it can seriously decrease your tank's pH. If you are new to the calcium reactor world, you might want to have that in mind BEFORE you hook one up.

It's one of the reasons people have two chamber reactors.

d-bag.

Is it common to run calc reactors before protein skimmers in sumps? It sure seems like the fractionating would outgas the co2, bumping the pH back up.

Of course I have neither, so just guessing.
