Filling is a few bucks cheaper than exchanging... That and some people don't want to trade in their nice Aluminum tanks, they paid $90 for, for a cheapie steel version...
Most of mine were steel as well... I had an Aluminum one, but traded for a steel one... lol I don't care, its not like anyone sees it anyways... Besides, I got it as part of the reactor package, and a full steel one does me a heck of a lot more good than an empty Aluminum...
Both of the places I mentioned fill. I've got a sassy aluminum tank (and a big honkin' 15# steel one), so I'd be peeved if I got some fugly rusted steel one exchanged for it.
I bought my 15# steel tank for like $35 or $45 (came filled) at Fyr Fyter. That seemed like an awesome deal to me...
I meant that if CO2 gets into the reef tank in excess of what is used to decrease the pH in the reactor it can seriously decrease your tank's pH. If you are new to the calcium reactor world, you might want to have that in mind BEFORE you hook one up.
It's one of the reasons people have two chamber reactors.
